The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes Holds Public Art Hunt in Corning


If you like public art and solving a good puzzle, The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes has created an interactive summer activity that will have you appreciating art AND the Crystal City with its first-ever Public Art Hunt in Corning, NY.


Each week between Aug. 12 and Sept. 2, clues to guide you to local landmarks will be published on The ARTS Council's Facebook page. Grab your friends and/or family and solve the clues. Then visit the landmark and snap a photo or a selfie. Be sure to tag @TheARTSCouncil.

Go Bowling at The Glen, NASCAR Cup Series, Sunday, Aug. 27 at Watkins Glen International. Event packages and information here.

August 28:

2022 Brand Park Summer Concert Series End of Summer Jamboree: noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Brand Park, Maple Avenue in Elmira. Featured performers include: Pat Comstock, Kool Treats Entertainment and Brotherz Unknown.


End of Summer Spotlight: Eldridge Park, Elmira, NY

There are only three more weekends to enjoy the attractions at Eldridge Park in Elmira before they close out another season of summer fun.


Take a twirl on the Tilt-a-Whirl, fly high on the Sail Planes ride, imagine you’re in a horse race on one of the fastest carousels in the United States – take the opportunity to spend the day with your family, friends and neighbors enjoying one of the area’s funnest and most affordable parks for all ages.

Attractions are open 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays through Labor Day.

Pedal for Pancakes, bike ride through scenic Big Flats that ends with pancake breakfast at Big Flats History Museum, 258 Hibbard Road, 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. $7 breakfasts are held on the second Saturday of Pat Comstockthe month through September to benefit the museum, which is helping the town celebrate its 200th birthday this year. Prices may be skyrocketing at the supermarket, but you can get tasty local produce and help out area farmers at Southern Tier farmers' markets throughout the region.


Fresh fruits and veggies, unique gifts from local businesses, and yummy treats from area eateries are just some of the gems you'll find at these fun, functional community gatherings.
